:: Katie; Lifestyle Sunrise

It was a brisk morning along the shore of Lake Michigan. We met for sunrise with high hopes for catching some morning light; the type of light that seems to be magic. I am happy to say we were rather successful.
Photographing Katie and Tucker had a special meaning - Katie has been an enduring friend and an encouragement to me in my relationship with Jesus. She has a perspective on life that's most often full of enthusiasm and is also guaranteed to make me really think through things. So, that being said, photographing her and her "bestie" Tucker was an honor. I'm pretty elated for the chance to share her joy with you all.

Looking ahead,

::Wildflower Hunt

hi all,
i hope you all are in good spirits this weekend. i've been in san antonio this last week and have been soaking in the warm weather - I love it.  tonight my cousins and I went on a wild flower hunt. we were successful! the flowers in texas in the spring are beautiful. on a side note, tomorrow i will be photographing a wedding solo for the first time. i'm excited for tomorrow, but it was good to be outside doing what i love tonight - photographing God's creation just for fun.

please enjoy and give me your thoughts.

looking ahead,

::old friends+new chemex+alt sperry

hello! i hope you all have had a good week. i can't believe it's coming to an end already. last weekend a my church had it's 15th annual men's retreat at this epic camp by a small town in rural wisconsin. it's always a lot of fun -- brings back many memories seeing as i've been going there since the age of 6! i brought my trusty camera with me, and really just had a blast with it. my brother joel brought a coffee brewer with him called a chemex coffee maker, and as you'll see below, it's very unique! i personally am a huge fan, mainly because it looks so cool, and it's awesome to photograph. photogenic coffee makers are the best. Joel, a few of our friends, and i, spent some time outside brewing up a pot of coffee and enjoying the beautiful day. It was incredible! I threw in some other pictures of the camp to give you a context - i hope you enjoy! two things about the first and last images: the first image i was experimenting with shooting a really broad area but with a very small focus point, so if it looks a bit different than you're used to, that would be why. It's gives it somewhat of a vintage, mysterious feel. The last image is of my friend joseph's shoe. it's a sperry. if i had to put it into a genre, i'd definitely say it was an alternative sperry. since you wanted to know. enjoy this post & have a fantastic weekend!

looking ahead,

:: Egg Hunt

It was a cold, muddy, exciting, kid-filled egg hunt - so much fun! (Most) of the snow had just melted, so it made for a muddy hunt. In my opinion, that just adds to the adventure. The grandkids were so excited to grab their pails and run around the yard in search of an egg of their color (the kids had to find eggs that were in their unique, designated color - makes it much less complicated!). I'm pretty sure the adults enjoyed the hunt almost as much as the kids did: they're so much fun to watch! This is a worthy tradition I hope our family keeps for years to come.

The picture at the end I consider to be the "blooper" of the bunch. Enjoy them!

Looking ahead,

(Uncle) Ethan
